GETTING HIGH SCHOOL COURSE CREDIT ONLINE

NOTE: You must enroll for high school courses online with your guidance counselor. Prior approval from your guidance counselor is REQUIRED.

The Florida Virtual School (Online): High school students in Alachua County can enroll in a variety of high school courses that they can complete online through the Florida Virtual School (formerly Florida High School Online) program. Students who are interested in enrolling in one of the high school courses offered through this program must obtain prior approval from their guidance counselor.

University of Florida High School Correspondence Courses: Students in Alachua County can earn up to one credit through the University of Florida Continuing Education Program. High school students must receive approval from their guidance counselor prior to enrolling in a high school correspondence course through the University of Florida.

TEST INFORMATION & PREPARATION FOR A STANDARD HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA

Meeting the Testing Requirement for a Standard High School Diploma:
Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT):
High school students must now pass the FCAT Reading and Mathematics tests in order to receive a Standard High School Diploma. Below you will find information and sample test items. School Board of Alachua County Testing Department:
The Testing Department of the Alachua County School District is responsible for the administration of required testing programs, such as Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS), Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT), and Florida Writing Assessment (FWA).  The Testing Department also assists with the administration of external testing programs, such as  American College Testing (ACT), Advanced Placement Tests (AP), the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitute Test (PSAT), and the Scholastic Aptitute Test (SAT).  This site contains information about testing programs in Alachua County and a copy of the 2001-2002 testing calendar.
